2001-2005 Acura MDX Faulty Transmisisions
As a owner of an 2002 Acura MDX SUV, leased new in 2001, after end of lease, I purchased the vehicle and took out an extended warranty (up 108462 miles) covering powertrain. My uncle also had purchased a 2002 MDX "used" and shortly after purchasing it the transmission went out. Lucky, he had purchased the extended warranty, but his local area Acura dealership would not honor the warranty and perform the replacement, instead a Honda performed the required services to replace the transmission. My uncle warned me there were numerous other customers who had been burden with the cost of replacement without any help from Acura when there is a known manufacturer defect. At 109105 miles, warranty expired at 108462, the vehicle's transmission began to act adnormally, I took it to the dealership where I originally purchased and they informed me that it was the transmission. They phone there Acura warranty representative and told me that they would cover half the cost of the transmission which totalled $4400, my cost $2200. There are far too many MDX past and present owners who have been manipulated by Acura Corporation. The numerous are enormous. Please investigate..Link................
